Towards a common European framework of reference for language teachers

As part of the new ECML programme «Languages at the heart of learning», preparatory work for a possible common European framework of reference for language teachers is being carried out in a four-year project.

The project entails an analysis of existing instruments and reference works describing language teachers’ competences and the documentation of case studies on their use. Some selected instruments are being piloted and further developed within the project. The Swiss contribution led at the IFDS includes the overall project management as well as the consideration of the profession-related language competences of language teachers.
