Preparing Teachers for a Changing World: Research-Based Education and International Collaboration
Teacher education today must balance stability with adaptability in order to prepare professionals for a future marked by rapid change. This presentation will draw on several ongoing projects — TREL, SCALED, Splendid, and the Teff Teacher Academy — to illustrate how research-based education can serve as a foundation for innovation in teacher preparation. While each project addresses distinct dimensions of teacher education, they share common concerns with inclusiveness, professional development, and international collaboration. By presenting examples of research-informed practices and reflecting on the opportunities and challenges they reveal, the talk will explore how teacher education can remain both rigorous and responsive. The session will conclude by inviting dialogue on future pathways for collaboration and on how research-based approaches can strengthen teacher education in times of flux.
