From Classroom to Society: Navigating AI’s Transformative Impact

This presentation, From Classroom to Society: Navigating AI’s Transformative Impact, offers a comprehensive and critical exploration of the expanding role of artificial intelligence in contemporary education and society. Addressing an international academic audience of both students and educators, the talk aims to explain AI by outlining its foundational concepts, historical development, and core technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and generative models. Building on this foundation, the presentation examines how AI is transforming educational practices, with particular emphasis on the evolving role of the teacher in AI-augmented classrooms. Beyond the classroom, the discussion extends to AI’s broader societal impact across domains such as communication and the future of work, highlighting both opportunities and emerging challenges. Central to the presentation is a critical engagement with key ethical concerns, including data privacy, algorithmic bias, academic integrity, and issues of equity and access. The session ultimately advocates for a proactive and human-centered approach to AI integration, grounded in AI literacy, ethical awareness, and responsible institutional practices. By encouraging dialogue and reflection, the presentation invites participants to reconsider their roles not only as users of AI technologies but also as active contributors shaping their development and impact.
